The Mission Neighborhood Health Center (MNHC) is a non-profit, multi-site community health organization offering comprehensive health services in the Mission and Excelsior Districts of San Francisco. The center offers primary health care services, adult medicine, pediatrics, family planning, OB/GYN, HIV and homeless services. We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the Dentist – Excelsior Clinic role. This position reports to the Dental Director and is a regular, full-time, exempt role with a starting annual salary range of $159,324 to $175,236, including full benefits.
Primary Objective:
Under the supervision of the Dental Director, the Dentist will provide routine and emergency dental services to MNHC patients with the highest standards of quality and customer service. Services include diagnosis and treatment planning, general restorative procedures, crown and bridge construction, removable prosthetics, uncomplicated endodontics, and minor oral surgery.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Provide routine and emergency dental care, including diagnosis, treatment planning, restorative procedures, crown and bridge work, removable prosthetics, uncomplicated endodontics, and minor oral surgery.
- Administer anesthetics and medications, and interpret x-ray and lab studies.
- Supervise and train Dental Assistants and Hygienists, supporting staff development and in-service education.
- Educate patients and families on oral health, illness prevention, and follow-up care; refer patients for specialty services as needed.
- Participate in community dental programs and foster strong patient relationships with a high level of customer service.
- Oversee clinic operations, including productivity, scheduling, equipment, and supply management, ensuring efficient processes.
- Exercise professional judgment, maintain high standards in clinical practice and charting, and utilize technology for data entry and reporting.
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) from an accredited educational institution.
- Valid license to practice dentistry in California.
- Demonstrated expertise in relevant dental practices, protocols, trends, and best practices in assigned clinical areas.
- Proven knowledge and success in effective overall clinical operations.
- Experience with JCAHO accreditation processes and requirements, as well as federal, state, and local regulations and standards for delivering care in a community health center setting.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and handle emergency situations successfully.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English (conversational preferred).
As a condition of employment, all candidates are required to meet specific immunization standards. Documentation of current immunizations, including Varicella, TDAP, COVID-19, MMR, and Hepatitis B, as well as TB test results valid within the last two (2) years must be submitted before the start date.
