HIV Services Registered Dietitian - Part time (bilingual)
The Mission Neighborhood Health Center (MNHC) is a non-profit, multi-site community health organization offering comprehensive health services in the Mission and Excelsior Districts of San Francisco. The center offers primary health care services, adult medicine, pediatrics, family planning, OB/GYN, HIV and homeless services.

We are currently looking for qualified candidates for our HIV Services Registered Dietitian role. This position reports to the Director of Programs and HIV Services and is a Regular, Part Time, Non-Exempt role with a starting hourly rate range of $36.25 to $39.90 with full benefits.
Primary Objective:
The Registered Dietitian is responsible for functioning as a health care team member in assessing nutritional status of patients, and is responsible for the implementation of a nutrition education program for individual patients in the HIV Clinic. The Registered Dietitian will also represent MNHC at community networks as needed.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Obtains, records, analyzes and evaluates nutrition and dietary history of patients.
- Devises an individual/group plan of nutrition education and develops a nutrition care plan for each patient seen. Includes dietary consultation to patients and their families on the selection and preparation of food taking into account income, cultural patterns, etc.
- Plans and presents nutrition education classes for patients and families; works in concert with other care team members.
- Obtains, maintains, updates and develops nutrition education materials for patients.
- Provides on-going evaluations of patients’ nutritional status and follows up at regular intervals.
- Maintains appropriate patient records.
- Participates in health care team conferences.
- Prepares statistical reports as needed.
- Provides referrals to food programs such as Project Open Hand, CalFresh, food pantries and serves as liaison with these programs. Serves as support for contractual staff.
- Represents MNHC at community organizations and networks such as those addressing prenatal care and diabetes.
- Implements dietary portion of Ryan White program and ensures all requirements are met.
- Mentors nutrition students and /or interns.
- Monitor Diabetes Monthly Clinic case load in advance and coordinate with the care team to identify and recall high risk diabetic patients.
- Perform case management/coordination of high-risk patients referred by medical Providers.
- Coordinate and provide Diabetes and Pre-Diabetes classes to patients.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition/Dietetics or related field.
- Registered Dietitian in the state of California
- Minimum 2 years providing nutrition care to diverse populations.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with HIV/AIDS, substance abuse, and mental health related issues and the intersection of these psychosocial factors.
- Experience working with Latinx population.
- Experience working in Primary Care setting preferred.
- Flexibility in scheduling and evening work is required.
- Ability to work professionally and ethically within multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary settings, including ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy of persons, documents, data, and communications.
- Sensitivity to HIV/AIDS and Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Gender Variant, Non-Binary and Transgender issues.
- As a condition of employment, all candidates are required to meet specific immunization standards. Documentation of current immunizations, including Varicella, TDAP, COVID-19, MMR, and Hepatitis B, as well as TB test results valid within the last two (2) years must be submitted before the start date. Failure to provide this documentation may result in a delayed start or withdrawal of the job offer.
